Do Life Insurance Applications Screen for Pot?

Do life insurance applications screen for pot, or just hard drugs?

The answer depends on the life insurance company.

However, most life insurance carriers will have applicants tested for marijuana, cocaine, and other illegal drugs which may include methamphetamine, heroine, etc.

Although, medical marijuana is legal in some jurisdictions, and the life insurance company may take this into consideration and possibly accept someone who tests positive for pot.

In addition, some life insurance companies offer term life insurance with no exam required, just a few health questions.

However, make sure you answer all questions truthfully so any claim made will not be contested if you should pass away from an undisclosed medical condition.

here's an article that explains the term life insurance drug tests and provides more information.
